who is angel? 😦
my name is angel luv; pronouns are she/her/hers. a 22-year-old, filipino-american, born and raised in California. also, an undergraduate college student, who is majoring in psychology. self-taught artist + graphic designer.
what is angel passionate about? 🤨
i am very passionate about mental health and advocating for mental illness! in any way, shape, or form, i will debunk the stigma of mental illness and empathise with everyone's own experiences and stories. i also have an endless creative expression that is outpoured in writing, graphics, and music.
why is angel passionate about these things?
mental health – i am diagnosed with depression and anxiety. the restless battle has been with me since 7th grade (middle school me suffered quite a lot). when i was going through the turmoils of my mental illness, i realized there was not a lot of people who really understood what it was like to actually battle with something so broad and so complex. i lost a lot of friends, went through traumatic experiences, lost myself and then gained myself again. as of now, my depression and anxiety still hover and pop around now and then, but i can say i am much better than i was when i was 13.
graphic design/creative outlets – whether it was music or writing or drawing, i was always finding something to release my emotions because i dealt with a lot of sadness and anxiety growing up. i am very introverted, so talking to people or making friends at school was hard for me; the next best thing to a friend was music. i started writing and taught myself the ukulele in 8th grade. after that, it was something that was stuck with me until today.
as for graphics, i have always had an eye for aesthetics. something about putting pictures, images, shapes, colors, etc., together to make your emotions and words even more enhanced created an outlet that transformed my way of expressing myself.
where does angel get her inspiration? 🧠
honestly, i don't know. i can't answer specifically what gives me inspiration, but most of the time, it's my emotions or feelings. sometimes it's another artist's work that sparks something in me. it depends!
what does angel use for your graphics? 💻
i used canva for quite a while, but i've been using adobe illustrator recently :)
what does angel like to do when she's not in school or working on projects? ☁️
sleeping, haha. jk. not really. i like to listen to music, get my own creative juices flowing. my music genre ranges from charlie burg to SZA to billie eilish. i also like to eat mangos and munch on crackers with peanut butter when i want a snack.
